About Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority (SMHA)

The Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority (SMHA) is a political subdivision of the state of Ohio and funded in part by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development to provide subsidized housing and self-sufficiency opportunities for eligible citizens of Stark County. The SMHA operates in accordance with the Federal Fair Housing Law. It is the policy of SMHA to house persons without regard to race, color, religion, sex, family status, handicap, or national origin.


Mission Statement

The Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority (SMHA) provides eligible residents of Stark County with quality affordable housing in decent, safe, and nourishing neighborhoods. By working in partnership with the public and private sectors, the SMHA provides families with housing choice and the opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency.
